A straight mug thrown on the wheel with an iron rich blend of clays, decorated with a horizontal band. The glaze is a deep black tenmoku, made from only one local, iron bearing rock, with a small addition of crushed glass.
Beneath the glaze is a slip made with iron rich clay from a former steelworks, which causes the glaze to break into fine red streaks, which run down the pot vertically in a pattern known as “Hares Fur”.
Fired in the gas kiln in a reduction atmosphere.
