A small footed bowl, thrown on the wheel with a blend of stoneware clays and glazed with a green, alkaline ash glaze.
The glaze is a traditional North Carolinian recipe made up of only locally sourced cherry ash, crushed glass and a local, sandy, earthenware clay. It is a satin green where thin, with the rust brown colour of the body breaking through. Where it has pooled into rivulets it becomes a glossy jade colour, and where it settles in the base of the bowl, a deep, opalescent blue can occur akin to fresh water.
Perfect for for snacks such olives, nuts, or for storing trinkets.
Fired in the gas kiln in a reduction atmosphere.
Dimensions: 10×5cm
Weight: 180g
