Ash Glazed Cup (1)

£28.00
Only 5 available

A cup thrown on the wheel with white stoneware clay, glazed with an ash glaze made using cherry ash, ground glass and a local, sandy earthenware clay.

Chunks of quartz in the clay body have caused small fissures and ruptures, and the normally clear glaze has become an opalescent blueish white in places. The cockle shells on which it was fired have flashed the base of the pot with salt vapours causing gentle blushing.

Fired in the gas kiln in a reduction atmosphere.

Capacity: 280ml

Dimensions: 7×9cm

Weight: 230g
