A straight mug thrown on the wheel with an iron rich blend of stoneware clays, glazed with a cherry ash glaze.
The glaze is an alkaline ash glaze - a traditional North Carolinian recipe which uses only cherry ash, ground glass and clay, in this case a sandy earthenware dug from my street in Stoke-on-Trent during gas works.
The glaze is a satin green, breaking to rust where thin, then pooling to a rich, opalescent blue / white where thicker.
Fired in the gas kiln in a reduction atmosphere.
Capacity: 330ml
Dimensions: 11×10cm
Weight: 330g
